Obfuscation barriers or no, his earlier revulsion reasserted itself when he thought about how readily he had acquiesced. How he had justified yielding to Keshwar’s authority as the mature response when, in reality, he had rolled over like an obedient puppy. He’d told himself he’d done it out of a sense of duty—his mess, House Ideth’s priorities; those things so intertwined he didn’t know where one ended and the other began—but perhaps it had been more out of ingrained habit.
